Los Fresnos volunteer firefighters spent fire prevention week visiting all of the elementary schools within our fire district to give fire safety and prevention presentations! Across the nation, fire departments visit schools and present to students in an effort to prevent fires and we are proud to be part of that tradition.
The theme for fire prevention week this year is "Smoke alarms save lives! Make them work for you!", so the majority of our focus was on the importance of smoke detectors and the steps that you need to take if your smoke detector goes off due to a fire.
Students also had the opportunity to look at our apparatus and equipment up close! We had firefighters demonstrating our bunker gear and the different types of apparatus!
Lastly, Sparky the fire dog joined us and gave students additional fire safety information!
Thank you to Los Fresnos Elementary, Lopez-Riggins Elementary, Palmer Laakso Elementary, and Laureles Elementary for inviting us to come by and speak to your students about fire safety and prevention!
Remember, smoke alarms save lives! Make them work for you!
