Local representatives from Tesla Motors visited our station and provided our crews with an invaluable training session on vehicle rescue!
As electric vehicles become more common on our roads, it's critical that our first responders are fully equipped with the knowledge needed to safely and effectively handle unique situations, including:
1. High Voltage System Disabling - Disabling the battery system to prevent fire or electrocution.
2. Unique Vehicle Architecture - Electric vehicles have different systems that can make vehicle extrication more difficult.
3. Fire Response - Electric vehicle fire are notoriously difficult to extinguish and require a lot of water and sometimes chemical retardants.
The commitment of Tesla to first responder safety is commendable, and this hands-on training ensures that we can operate with precision when every second counts.
